Seamless GuttersWHAT ARE SEAMLESS GUTTERS?Here at Sela Gutter Connection we define Seamless Gutters as one continuous piece of gutter mounted to the fascia on your home. Our gutters are extremely durable, provides rust and corrosion protection, and are available in a range of colors. Our seamless gutters are available as 5", 6" K-Style, and Half Round gutters made from .032 inch thick aluminum, 20 ounce copper or 24 gauge steel. These seamless gutters are measured and created on site via our roll form gutter machine. The following definitions can help you understand our process. Residential Gutters: We equip each 5" gutter with a 2x3 or 3x4 collar, allowing the downspout to mount securely to the gutter. Commercial Gutters: Larger 6" gutters are sold only with 3x4 or larger downspouts; this larger size represents a commercial gutter suitable for larger roof areas. Hangers are installed every two feet with a 1.5" screw assembly that incorporates a rubber washer.  Strip Mitre: Our gutters incorporate a strip mitre that forms one sealable joint, thus avoiding box miters that create three sealable joints and thus leak more often. Sela's seamless gutters provide a more effective, longer-lasting seal.  Flashing is an L-shaped piece of metal that goes in under the shingles and into the gutter. Flashing prevents water from going behind the gutter, thus preventing ice back-up into the soffit during our character-building Minnesota winters. Most houses in the Twin Cities don't have real flashing; instead, they have what's called sider's edge, which is a simple trim piece nailed to the fascia just under the roofline. In our experience this piece is only decorative and has no protective value. We will remove this piece of decorative metal and install an L-shaped piece of color-matched flashing, with 3" under the roofing material and 2" into the gutter.
Downspouts are pre-manufactured in 10' sections. They come in aluminum (in the same colors offered as gutters), steel (offered in limited colors) and copper. Downspouts are fastened to wall with the same 1 1/2" washer controlled screw. Unless attached to a drain tile, a downspout is typically left 5" to 8" above ground level to accommodate the slope of the extension.  Extension: A horizontal gutter that leads from the downspout to the ground. Extensions can be up to 10 feet in length and are offered in the same color as the downspout. In high traffic areas flip-up extensions are available, which can quickly be moved out of the way. Concrete splash blocks are available as well, and we also offer underground downspouts.
